The Arc advocates against indifference. The Arc
educates the community about receiving, embracing, and engaging
people with cognitive and intellectual impairments in all facets
of community life through case advocacy and support, resource
and skills development, and educational workshops or forums.
The Arc’s Education / Advocacy Committee
 |
The purpose of the education and advocacy
committee is to ensure that our agency provides needed
educational programming and advocacy services to individuals
and families affected by developmental disabilities in
the Charlotte area.
This committee is responsible for the development
and management of community outreach efforts, educational
training and workshops, and informational materials.
|
They also evaluate our advocacy services to ensure
developmentally disabled individuals and their families have
the proper tools and support systems in place to pursue lives
of inclusion and purpose. This committee builds the bridge between
the community and people with developmental disabilities through
education and awareness, advocating for the rights of the developmentally
disabled and their families.
The education and advocacy committee works with
our exclusive Resource Guide, quarterly workshops, educational
programs, WrightsLaw, and advocacy groups for parents and individuals.
