Sabrina McCracken, the Community Education Coordinator with the Arc of Mecklenburg County is a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School where she found her desire to work with people with disabilities while working as a teacher assistant. She is a graduate from Central Piedmont Community College with an Associates Degree in Applied Science in Human Services Technology with a concentration in Developmental Disabilities as well as a graduate from Queens University of Charlotte with a BA degree in Human and Community Services. Meika Garner is the Development Coordinator for the agency. She has a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Communications and a minor in General Business and a Masters degree in Nonprofit Management. Her passion for the nonprofit sector began in high school and helped shape her educational and career pursuits. The development position holds great potential in enabling the organization to have a stronger community presence and a greater capacity to meet the needs of the individuals and families it serves. The Arc of Mecklenburg County is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of people who are involved in various aspects of our community. The Board sets the direction of the agency, focusing on strategic planning and advocacy with and for people with disabilities. The Board meets every other month with committees actively meeting in the months between Board meetings.
